Adding a Multivariable Emission Source

Adding a Multivariable Emission Source

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to add a multivariable emission source. It includes information on creating base units, calculations, formulas, and setting up parent and child emissions. By following these steps, users can accurately report and track emissions from different sources and make informed decisions regarding their environmental impact.

1. Click "Emission Sources"

2. Click this icon.

3. Select the "Subcategory" the parent emissions should report into.

4. Click the "Emission Source name" field.

5. Create the "Base unit name"

6. Click "Save"

7. Click "Add new logic"

8. Click "New calculation"

9. Name the Calculation

- This will be what the user sees in the Base Unit dropdown when entering into a data line.

10. Create the Fields that will feed into the formula.
- The first "Field" should be the same as the Base Unit\

  • The "Fields" will be the same for both the parent and child.
    Click the "Formula *" field.

11. Create the "Formula" using the field IDs.

Field IDs are variables in the equation that will equal the base unit.

In this example: Short Tons of Virgin Glass = Total Short Tons of Glass * ((100 - % of virgin material) / 100)
- You divide by 100 in this example to convert the number to a percentage.

12. Be sure to Click "Save"

13. Now enter the Emission Factors for the Parent source

14. Be sure to click "Save" on the Emission factors section

15. Now we want to set up the CHILD emissions

16. Click "Emission Sources"

17. Add a new source by clicking on the "+" icon

18. Click the "Subcategory" the CHILD emissions will report into

- This can be different from the PARENT

19. Name the "Emission Source" for the CHILD

- This will NOT display in the system to the end user
- Recommend naming it the same as the PARENT with the difference in parenthesis (i.e. Glass Bottles (recycled content))

20. Click the "Parent emission source" field and find the PARENT emission source

21. Now add a "Base unit" which the CHILD emission factors are based on.

- This does NOT need to be the same as the PARENT

22. Add any additional information necessary and click "Save"

23. Now go to the "Conversion Logic" section.

24. Update the "Formula " field to reflect the equation for the CHILD emission source.

- The "Fields" are locked as they must match the PARENT source
- In this example: Short Tons of Recycled Glass = Total Short Tons of Glass * (% of recycled glass / 100)
- You divide by 100 in this example to convert the number to a percentage.

25. Click "Save" for the overall Emission Source when you are complete.

26. Add the Emission Factors for the CHILD

27. Click "Save" for the local emission factors

28. Click "Yes"

29. Click "Enter Emissions Data"

30. Now you can verify your work.

31. Click the "+" add Data Line button.

32. Search for the PARENT in "Source"

33. Click "Add dataline"

34. Enter the data and Click "Save"

35. Now go to "Reporting"

36. Click "Generate PDF Audit Report"

37. Find your PARENT source

38. And now you can verify the math for both the PARENT and CHILD
